New School, New Start, New Me

She applies the make-up over the healed bruises on her face.
She ties her hair back exposing the small scar over her left eye.
She wears a long sleeve shirt to hide the scars from her newly disowned past. The scars from when life was "too hard and complicated" to live without physical pain, physical pain of burning, bruising, and cutting.
Moving on from nearly forgotten memories, she forces a smile on her unwilling face. Before walking out the door with her backpack in hand, she takes one last look and the mirror deciding if this "new her" is for the worse or the best. With that one last glimpse, she finally understands.
