If only I could tell you, then what would you think?

Would you think “I’ve never thought of her that way,”
“I’ve thought so little about her I don’t even know what to say?”

Would you think “I’ve been hoping for so long I thought I was dumb,”
“but my turn to have her has finally come?”

Would you think “oh great my day can’t get any worse than this,”
“the next thing I know she’ll be wanting a kiss?”

If only I could tell you, then what would you do?

Would you just shrug and walk away,
leaving me hoping you’ll be back another day?

Would you smile then capture me in a big embrace,
while you plaster your kisses all over my face?

Would you just look at me with disgrace,
the fact that you hate me being evident on your face?

If only I could tell you, then what would you say?

Would you say “I’m flattered you like me that way,”
“but I’ve never thought of you even one time a day?”

Would you say “oh my god this is a dream come true,”
“for the longest time I have loved only you?”

Would you say “I just don’t seem to like you that way,”
“so would you leave me alone and go away?”

If only I could tell you, then how would you react?

Would you not care about my feelings for you,
not even enough to ask if they’re true?

Would you admit your long-hidden love for me too,
that you love me so much there isn’t anything you wouldn’t do?

Would you be quick to break my heart with no regret,
quick to shun, quick to forget?

If only I could tell you, then which would you choose?

One-avoiding the issue, two-admitting your love, or three-breaking my heart.
I can only hope for two, it’s been the best from the start.
