Crossing the line

by nickie   Nov 24, 2006

With the line staring back at us,
this was the most emotional task,
as we anticipated the questions,
that we're just about to be asked.

If this has ever happened to you,
walk over to that door.
If you've ever been judged in this way,
cross the white line on the floor.

Have you ever felt hurt,
by something someone said,
cross the white line,
if this is what you dread.

Have you ever cried yourself to sleep,
because you weren't good enough,
cross the line and look around,
nobody is really that tough.

Have you ever been hurt,
because someone called you fat?
Look at those who crossed the line.
Where did we learn to judge like that?

Have you ever been teased,
because you had braces, or glasses,
a hearing-aid or the clothes you wear,
everyone has crossed the line, it's just not fair.

Where did we learn to judge,
by the things people do?
I'll admit I've done this,
and so have you.

If you look at those who have crossed the line,
you're no longer that far.
For you have crossed the line,
to prove, you are who you are.
