Sleeping With The Light On

At night the darkness creeps up on me
Fulfilling the entire room
All I can do is close my eyes
And will it to be morning soon

It is something that gets me scared
Its inky blackness is all I see
Whether my eyes or open or closed
It just seems to be following me

It swallows everything in its way
Turning it a shadowy black
Pushing my senses to the limit
As the night starts to attack

Cos in the dark you can never be sure
If your alone or something's there
Like that shadow in the corner
Is it a person or just the chair?

Being afraid of the dark isn't fun
You just wish it to be gone
So until the daylight comes
I'm sleeping with the light on ©
