As if

by Megan Sue   Nov 26, 2006

As if I were invisible
you couldn't really see
that the hopeless girl you thought you knew
really was just me

As if I were the sunshine
I'd brighten up your day
I'd make you think the happy thoughts
that never go away

As if I were a smile
that spread across your face
put aside one more time
vanished without a trace

As if I were your memories
the ones that are fading fast
I've been put behind, forgotten
as part of your old past

As if I were a pencil mark
that should have been erased
I'm just another pencil mark
but now an empty space

As if I were a friendship
that had no chance to live
there were so many unspoken words
so many thoughts I could not give

As if I were a someone
not a nobody all alone
I'd go outside and hang with friends
not be stuck at home

You don't know this, but I'm real
and I need someone to care
I need a friend here at my side
Tell me, will you be there?
