Long Overdue

by Lance Hardy   Nov 27, 2006

I'm drawing a blank
As to where I now head
My future is so clouded
A fear of being misled

I've felt and been broken
And caused the same
Through sex and little sobriety
I lost my old name

College has changed me
From being weak and down
I've learned a personality
To which I no longer drown

Now I wear on my shoulders
An overdue confidence
Girls cannot penetrate
My new heart's defense

To the ladies, I'm sorry
The softer me is dead
I did all my time
Being underdog on the spread

That's over and done with
And the memories make me sick
Just beware of this lion
For he has some new tricks

    ....

Honestly, I think you're back to to, if not farther in your level of poetic skills from the time before you took a break. The words and what you mean though, no matter how true it seems or how well you put up a front about it, is at least partially untrue. I think you're still a big softie on the inside, even if girls had made your exterior a bit rougher.

    Love the lion reference. ROAR!

I read this already. I thought the message was very clear and unobscured through the stanzas. Innnnteresting. Let's see what kenny has to say.
