Where You Sleep

by Twisted Heart   Nov 27, 2006

Inside the mind are webs of pain that traps you like a vise
They follow you through all you do and right into the night
Within your dreams they whisper, calling to your weakened soul
Shattering resistance that has left you in the cold.

A bed of broken promises now hold your heart that weeps
And though you lay your head down, you fail to go to sleep
For memories have consumed your mind and makes it hard to rest
Because the empty heart you have has crumbled from distress.

Among the ashen embers of your faith that held you strong
Now lies the barren wasteland of your soul that carried on
Into the mist of heartache that cries for sweet release
Is a sanctuary that will harvest all your grief.

Don't search for what you know is lost or what you cannot find
Forever they will trap you, fast, within the web of time
They'll spin you in delusion and confusion will make you weak
And hinder you the sanctity of where you finally sleep.

I really like this peace and I'm loving the internal rhymes you set up skillfully in there. Question: Why isn't this under the darker category? The shivers this peom sent up my spine certainly hinted it deserves to be in that section. Great write.

Wow! That was a very neat poem...i think the flow was a tad off, but I really liked it, and I think anyone and everyone can relate to problems following them and keeping them up at night. Terrific job!
