Reward and Punishment

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 27, 2006

The concept of reward and punishment
Through ages has received embellishment
Mercy perceived as ignorance, or weakness
Blinded to the power of piety and meekness

Punishment has its own redeeming reward
All things for good come from the Lord
God loves us, we were not made for laws
Punishment is the effect not the cause

Nature can be unforgiving or it can be blest
Natural selection chooses only the best
Mankind has received embellishment
Through ages of reward and punishment

Excellent. You had a great flow there were no points where I had to stop and reread something, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING vocabulary, and the whole meaning behind the poem was something that we all should think about.

I must say I have only read 4 of your poems so far, but these are purely a joy to read, never have I been so entranced by poetry as much as I am with yours. Wonderful job with this one, keep it up! 5/5

Pavlov's theory. Hmm, that's a very interesting poem my friend. Oh wow, Darwin's theory. It's very true, these theories of human behaviour and human evolution I believe is true. Very nice touch adding a poetic effect to these theories. Although not in depth, but mentioned.
