Back To You. [A "Lady And The Tramp" Tale]

Diamonds and pearls enlace her silver dress
Along with eighty dollar shoes to impress.
Her hair is tied up in ribbons and bows,
And she signs her name with exes and oh's.

He watches from across the dampened street,
As she looks to the cameras and smiles so sweet.
With a man on her arm, she walks toward the door,
To watch a private screening of what she's seen before.

Her life is scripted and played out on the silver screen,
By some other women that she had never before seen.
And dying in his arms is a movie star of his own -
Forgetting about the place that she once called home.

And with nicotine coating her breath she holds onto the tape,
Of a voiced man and a past he's desperately trying to escape.
And later when she's all alone with her bottle of whiskey,
She'll listen as a dying man's heart is finally set free.

"The big city has taken you in and eaten you alive,
Left you with nothing but cheap scripts to survive;
And I know that we were from different sides of the tracks,
But baby, what'd you expect when you said you'd come back?
And tonight, your life was scripted out onto the silver screen,
So tell me, what did you think of that good-bye scene?
Such a shame - what has become of our homecoming queen,
But with an ex and an oh, this is it my sweet Christine."

Tears were streaming down her porcelain cheeks,
As she ran outside to a deserted city street,
And as she fell to her knees to whisper her ado,
She bowed her head to say "I'll find my way back to you!"
