My Letter

by Tim Bradshaw   Nov 28, 2006

I'm writing this letter to you today,
I have no courage to talk.
I want you to know my outlook,
The reason I chose to walk.

Mom, you know I do love you,
I just had to get away.
I never meant to make you cry,
I just didn't imagine I could stay.

The drugs, the parties every night,
Was no way for me to grow,
Watching you sniff that shit,
It made you seem so low.

I am not writing a hate note to you,
I do have some memories to share.
Like the time we traveled to Disney world,
Or that day at the county fair.

After I left I still thought of you,
I wondered how you have been.
But I had no reason to call you at all,
After what happened back then.

Lastly I would like to apologize,
For not making it last yesterday.
But if I saw you in that casket asleep,
I wouldn't have anything to say.

R.I.P. Mommy Dearest

Love: Your Son

Oh my. This was short, but sweet. I could feel some of the feeling that you put into this piece. Wow. Just wow. Amazing flow, and every fit into place. I like this stanza the most:

Lastly I would like to apologize,
For not making it last yesterday.
But if I saw you in that casket asleep,
I wouldn't have anything to say.

Breathtaking. I'm going to read it again. :]
