You and I Meet Again

by Melissa   Nov 29, 2006

As the world faces new challenges
I realize that you are strangely familiar to me
Yet I do not recognize you
Your fine face,
Your gorgeous long brown hair,
And your Beautiful brown eyes
Why don't I recognize something so beautiful?
Then suddenly I remember who you are
You were my first true love
From years ago
In high school you were everything to me
Or at least our freshman year
I have missed you,
I have missed being your friend,
I have missed talking to you,
I have missed your laughter,
But most of all I have missed your smile
We are in a room filled with millions of people
Who knows if I can get to you from across this wide room?
I bet you don't even recognize me,
I bet you don't even care who I am anymore,
I bet you don't remember what we had
I have forgotten all about you until now
When I saw you
I just wish you would look at me
So I can give myself the courage to come say hi
Minutes pass and you still don't look my way
Then I think, what's the harm in saying hi to an old friend
From high school
I walk across this crowded room over to you
And I stare into your beautiful brown eyes once again
After all these years and say hi and introduce myself
All of a sudden your face lights up and you hug me
We begin talking and telling each other about our lives since high school
By the time we tell each other everything that's happened
We share our phone numbers so we can still talk
And become best friends again
Finally I have what I want
To meet someone I know and who knows me back
So that we can share our life secrets
Besides with our husbands and wifes
