Opening kick

by Bubby Brown   Nov 30, 2006

There is nothing quite like the feeling
Sweat is already pouring down your head
Mom dad and other fans screaming
Trying to remember the last thing coach said

You can hear the fans
You can hear the band
You feel unstoppable like superman
And the drum line it sounds so grand

Then the ball gets kicked
Then it happens
Everything goes quiet
Everything in my mind passes

I can hear my heart beat
They try to block me
I hear the running of footsteps
They can not stop me

Then I see the ball
I want it
By now my sight is like one big hall
I’m ready for the big hit

I make contact
I let lose all my anger and pain
I want to hurt him, make him scream from the hit
I want him to feel my anger and pain

When I get up and see him on the ground
I look down and with a frown
I say “get up kid, and stop playing around.
This is going to be your longest night its only your first down.”
