Cherish

Cherish

The coming of December
another season for love
songs of hope and peace
yet I wish I had a cloud
I could float away on...

The weather may be cold
but hearts still so warm
and every time I feel
a tear behind my eye
I gaze back into memory
and think of a time
you made me smile.
and I wish we had a cloud
we could float away on...

And I've tried to help you
to put this doubt at ease
and I know your trying to
and I will be patient
I'll guide you through
i won't push or give up
Because I know how hard
it is to gain back-
something thats lost.
I wish I had a cloud
to float away on...

And even if you forget sometimes
remind yourself that I am here
I always believe in you
without a doubt in my mind
Know I am proud, even if you deny
this has nothing to with optimism
It all weighs down with love.
Because you are the only one like you
and thats something to love yourself for.
I wish I had a cloud I could float away on...

And i know sometimes
I might shed a few tears
but are swept in the past
and at times I might be
hard to handle or understand
As all feelings reach me
feeling lovely and sad
but tell me how you really feel
and soon find its a release
I wish I had a cloud
I could float away on...

So in this winter cold
hold me close...
for we will never be as lovely
as the moment from before
cherish this...
cherish me...
for some things may change
and some things return
to how they once were
but something to save
in the pocket of your mind;
your still as precious
as the moment you first breathed.

I wish we had a cloud
we could float away on....

Layla, This is stunning. You continue to grow as an excellent poet.I love the repeating stanza of the 'cloud' it really has impact. This is love and heartache at once-but you have coneyed it into such a poem of meaning and beauty. You are truly so gifted as a poet.
