Everywhere

by Gregory W Golden   Dec 1, 2006

On the broken backs
of cold mountains,

Dreams fall to the ground
like autumn leaves,

Haunted maple trees take
Flight above the mountain ridge,
like starless vultures

Underneath the gray moonlight,
sharp daggers clash and cling
from the Devil's army marching
through the gates

Centurion eyes as cold as steel
watch the colossal hydra spray
poisonous venom everywhere,
anywhere, always, guarding
the river to Hades
