What Was Can Never Be

The way you would hold me close
The way you would look into my eyes,
Was that the real you or was it you disguise?

The way you would embrace me tight
and said that you would never let me go,
Was that true words coming from you
heart or was it just for show?

I thought you really loved me
I thought you really cared,
But I guess the sense of love I
felt just wasn't really there...

But why did you lead me on and whispered
sweet nothings in my ear,
Saying how we'll always be together
forever all throughout the years...

But I know I shouldn't give you all the
credit for I should take half of the blame,
Because I didn't see what was really going
on but instead I was caught up in the game...

Now we act as if nothing happened
as if a mistake between two friends,
But you don't know that my heart is
still aching and it's still hard to mend...

I want to tell you that I have feelings for
you and that nobody can take your place,
But I guess I'll just have to hide my broken
heart and only reminisce about the memories
of us that I can't erase...
