What Resides in My Soul (Sonnet)

by Weeping Wolf   Dec 3, 2006

Dost thou not know the immensity of this love?
that which cannot be contained, only attained
as the free feathers compose the white dove
love is the bird unable to be restrained.

Tenderness passively swept off its feet
into the solace of a pile of fall leaves
the comfort of kindness and silk sheets
an unfeigned love that does not deceive

Eyes that rise and fall like the autumn breeze
the faded color of august touches their iris
pasts of raging seas that drown this deep within me
forgotten in the soft presence of a lover's kiss

Till time runs dry, from the sands of the shore
this savored love resides in my soul forevermore.
