Not Ready For the Butterflies {La'Tuin}

by xTheEcstasyOfSuicidex   Dec 4, 2006

Floating calmly from clouds in the sky,
They die - their essence covers all,
Hold up hands - recieve their final gift,
All around, breathe in butterflies.

Into the waiting sun, spirits melt,
Fluttering softly in protest,
Everywhere you go, butterflies lay,
By their beating wings wind is felt.

The sun's not ready for butterflies,
Not ready for their hungry souls,
You can smell their breath all around,
Such precious things glitter then die.

Floating calmly from clouds in the sky,
They die - their essence covers all,
Hold up hands - recieve their final gift,
All around, breathe in butterflies.

The La'Tuin, a poetic form created by Laura Lamarca, consists of 4-line stanzas with an
'abca, abca' rhyme scheme that is consistent throughout each stanza. Stanzas 2, 3 etc. must
all follow the same rhyme sounds as the first stanza. With the first stanza being repeated again
at the end of the piece. It contains a minimum of 4 stanzas, with no maximum length limit.

A strict syllable count of 9/8/9/8 is required per stanza.
