Not the same

You search my eyes,
and ask if I love you.
I stare right back,
and say I did.
You look at me confused,and the hurt on your face breaks my heart all over again.
But your no longer the person
I fell in love with,
And it's too much for me to bear.
You turn to leave in a wave of anger,
blowing me off and not accepting your present nature.
With deliberate steps,
and my eyes brimming with tears,
I walk away...
The words I had hoped would never have to be said barely escape my lips:
"I never want to see you again," I cry, with desperation in my voice.
When in my heart I wish one last time,
for you to change back,
to the one I once called mine.
