Awaken

by Joyce Lee salinis   Dec 4, 2006

A strange piece, this piece,

Cold indeed, the winter\'s feeling,

At least it is my winter

Awaken from a cold night,

And I feel a warmth,

A tingling, searing kiss of warm,

Awaken from a cold night,

And I live a warm day,

A comfortable, pleasant, warm day

With only the white snow-lines,

Upon paling flesh,

To show for the previous nights

A strange piece, this piece,

Cold indeed, the winter\'s feeling,

My winter, a trigger for a short summer

The blood-lines fade,

Old snow-lines disappear,

And my life lives in light

When all is gone,

Even the paling reversed,

I know winter will come

It is inexorable,

This cold, this cold damned night,

The Winter child will sing the cold song,

He hates it,

I hate it,

I want to stop it, forget it, be free of it,

But I know that I cannot,

I know that part of me will not,

It scares me.
