When We Loved

The grass seemed a little greener.
The sky looked to be a brighter blue.
Life was so beautiful
because you had me and I had you.

With you I laughed until I cried.
I knew pleasure; I knew pain.
But in you eyes I saw my future,
so Heaven smiled even when it rained.

Yes, life was beautiful when we loved.
We had what have always sought.
We loved more in a year than most do in a lifetime,
so it hurts that much more to know that we lost.
