How Can This Darkness Feel So Wrong

by Midnight Sun   Dec 5, 2006

I sat in the darkness
I lived without light
I shunned life around me
I craved a hard fight

I was happy with no one
I would rather be alone
I cursed those who were happy
From the light that shone

But as a small candle
That grew larger and larger
You lit up my life
Even though you were a stranger

My life served a purpose
I had meaning once more
I started to see why I had hurt
And looked forward to what was in store

But you left me so quickly
As easily as you came
I was abandoned without warning
Left in the cold I was shamed

So I went back to darkness
Singing my morbid song
But something wasn't right
How can this darkness feel so wrong

Was it because I finally felt love
Because I really needed you
Because we were meant to be
How can any of this be true?

I used to be so happy
Being completely alone
Is it possible you left me
Needing more than my own

So now as I sit in darkness
I crave the warmth of light
Even though before in this sorrow
I craved the hard fight

Once again, i am enthralled by your work, i can relate to all the beauty, betrayel and sorrow in every line in this, captivating...yes the images you wrote about may have been haunting to some, but it was everyday life to me, so comforting to read a poem, and feel such strong emotions and know that you aren't the only one that has/or is going through the same thing...HELL YEAH!....

This is M&M- i got an account on here, so go check out my poems if you want. Very moving. I love the analogy of the candle entering into your life but then leaving you in darkness. Makes me sorry i wasn't there to support you whenever you felt those things. This is M&M- i got an account on here, so go check out my poems!
