Christmas Cheer

by manic moments   Dec 5, 2006

The presents under the tree
The children running around in glee
The angel sitting there above their heads
The Christmas stockings hanging off their beds

A Christmas wish to one family to another
Swapped stories between each mother
The gingerbread houses atop with icing
The Christmas pudding ready for slicing

Presents choosen, packages, and kissed with care
Adorned with ribbons, none are bare
Special little treats left Saint Nick
Should give Santa the best trick

The holly hanging from the mantel piece
The house filled with joyous peace
Family chatter as the gifts are passed around
Everyone is given what their dreams had found

Saint Nick watches from the window
Watching couples, family, and lonely old widows
Watching the Christmas cheer spread from all
With the coming of the snow fall

Children sleeping in their beds
With pictures of Saint Nick in their heads
Off fly's he, into the night of black
Bringing the meaning of Christmas back
