Last Bitter Kiss

by Weeping Wolf   Dec 7, 2006

-This was a long time ago, but a song spark my inspiration to write it-

the last kiss
tasted of cigarettes
a sad and bitter smell

On some nights, at this time
i sit and wonder where you are
and who you are with, who you are thinking about

You were the one who jaded my life
you were the one who stained my lips
you were the one who led me in fear
afraid that a new love would be just as you
had always treated me...

Tomorrow, at this time
i will probably be crying
You will probably be lying
to another one who loved you...as i did.
But not anymore.

You were the one who jaded my life
you were the one who stained my lips
you were the one who led me in fear
afraid that a new love would be just as you
had always treated me...

But i will not be fooled. Hes not you.

But there are so many things i don't want to forget...
But you will never come back and I'm not asking you to
And hes not you, and i don't want to feel like he is
So I'm going to leave behind the part of my heart you had
So that the burden doesn't remain to haunt me in my sweeter days...

the last kiss
tasted of cigarettes
a sad and bitter smell
the stale feeling...
of what our love had become.
And I'm glad that night, I walked away.

Dark, meaningful, and all around wonderfully written. Your poems are always a pleasant read, though I found something lacking in this one....I'm just not sure what it is.
Still, very good, and keep up the good work.

    Layla,
Never regret love-good or bad.Through loss we learn what real love is.The pain and loss are things we must go through to be stronger, but never regret love, never lose the capacity to love again. This is an excellent poem.I really feel it.

    Peace,Love, Poetry, & Power,
