Nocturnal Sorrows

by Virna Estella   Dec 7, 2006

Hazy horizon.
Clouds passing fast.
Bustling cars and trucks.
Noisy crowd--
I'm on my way home.

Behind the driver's seat,
Me wandering with every steer.
Wind touching my face.
Dust kissing my clothes--
I'm coming home.

Stepped out of the car.
Gazed at the sunset.
The temperature lowers,
And the sky turns gray--
I whisper, "just another night, alone in my home".

Took the clothes off.
Tucked myself under the sheets.
The moon sheds its beam,
Leaving me numb with pain.
Apathetic--that's how I turned out to be.

Memories rekindle.
Sad goodbyes in every corner.
Heartaches.
False Hopes.
Each night's just as weary.

Come, daylight!
And ease my every sorrow,
'Cos the nights are never too short
For a heart that's yet to be cold.
Tomorrow, come and make me sober.
