If you don't know by the words that I write
What kind of girl I am and the battles I fight
Well let me tell you who I really am
I'm just a single mother trying to understand

I woke up one morning on my daughters birthday
Her daddy was gone he went on his way
We broke it off the night before
ever since then Ive been struggling even more

I write about my children and alot about their dad
Every word in my poems shows that I'm sad
But I'm really starting to see my life isn't wasted
Its just a bitter part in my life that I had tasted

But if you really want to know if every word is true
I will not hesitate to tell you
I have so much to say and not a friend to hear
All I really asked is for a listening ear

In many of my poems I may sound needy and weak
But its just my emotions I write instead of speak
I am a strong mother inside and out
My poems just express the pain that I felt

So if your ever curious to get to know me
I'm always open to new friendship if you try you will see
That I am a good person and I'm loyal until the end
So if your ever curious just ask to be a friend

    The great thing about poetry is it can be an self-help mechanism to get us through the darker days, and also a brilliant way of demonstrating to the world that some of our viulnerabilities can be channelled into great strengths. So while this is not that great a piece of poetry (some of the rhyming is off, or seemingly forced) it's still a compelling read because it's telling a story rather than just an "oh woe is me" rant against the world.

    Not a bad effort at all. :-)

    I was just wandering thro the site & came across this one & i must confess...this is a lovely piece...you really have a very good talent though i am no one to judge that....but i cant stop myself too... :o)
