My soldier

You told me you were leaving and those two last months to be with you are almost gone,
going to Iraq and leaving me here all alone.
Im gonna miss your beautiful smile and the way you wear your hair,
those beautiful deep, mysterious blue eyes that make me want to stare.
You always light up my day and make my bad days not seem so blue,
the only thing that i ever want to do everyday is just to be with you.
Smiling makes me happy and thats exactly what i do when im with you,
when you told me you had to leave i wanted it to not be true.
I don't want you to leave and never come back,
i wore bright colors and now all i want to wear is black.
Valentines day wont be the same this year without you,
we are so close we are almost like glue.
I love you and always will and i want to tell you,
because deep down in my heart i mean it, this is true.
Saying goodbye will be the hardest thing to do,
but what i really want to do is find the words to finally say I Love You.
It may be my only chance, i may not get another,
i want to tell you this because i missed the opportunity to tell my brother.
I'm gonna miss you from the bottom of my heart,
our attachment to one another is just about to start.
But don't worry i will be here waiting on you to return,
praying everyday and every night for me to see you come home.
I will support you and write you everyday,
because my love and worry for you will never fade away.
I will lie down and go to sleep each night,
and in my dreams i will imagine my soldier at home with me, kissing and holding me tight.
