If It Was You

by *Charisma*   Dec 10, 2006

Tears rushed straight to my eyes
When I saw the blue lights flashing
Then the truck laying in the ditch
And I only thought of you crashing.

I prayed to see you standing there
Unharmed, and away from the scene
And then I saw the truck clearer
And it wasn't yours in the green

So for a moment my heart felt relief
That the ambulance wasn't for you
But the tears came back with a vengeance
When I thought, "What would I do?"

If that truck I saw had been yours
And you weren't okay from the hit
A stretcher carrying a body
And me praying for you to make it.

Rushing to your side at the hospital
And me pretending like I'm fine
But the drops down my cheeks tell the truth
And you clasp your hand in mine.

That's what I thought in those seconds
When I believed you were the one there
And that's when I knew in my heart
That's it's only for you I care.

    ^ ditto.

It takes something awful to happen to realise the true extent of your feelings for someone. Well in some cases it does =)
You managed to paint a vivid picture with this poem.
    Well done

This poem is very sweet, soo touching, you got your point across.. Most people don't know they really love someone until something happens to that person, or even when they think something happens to them. well, very very good poem, _Stephen_
