The Lady in Black...her name is she.

by **MIMI**   Dec 11, 2006

She walked into the room, with a smile upon her face,
A slinky black dress, combined with detail of red lace.
She held her head up high, and smiled all night long,
Never let on that she was hurting, she knew that would be wrong.
Her heart pounded with fear, everytime her husband spoke,
She just kept on smiling, said nothing, incase it was him she did provoke.
A simple yes, no answer to every question that was asked,
He made her put on face, she was hiding behind this mask.
Incase you all are wondering, she is a victim of abuse,
She is held by the throat, everytime she lets herself loose.
She has been knocked of all her confidence, her crys are never heard,
She sometimes dreams she could fly away, as free as all the birds.
Everytime he hurts her, she just smiles and agrees she has done wrong,
When really in her mind, it is a loving relationship and cuddle that she longs.
She is had a nervous break down, she decided to run away,
She is living a better life, but is still scarred to this very day.
The man was sent to jail, he only got a year,
He is coming out soon, pouring back to her is fear.
She has a life sentence of fear, this isnt what justice is about,
He was a maniac and dangerous to society, a complete and utter lout.
Never a happy ending, she never was a happy girl anyway,
She took her life and went to heaven the other day.

A dark yet beautiful poem, very moving and deeply sad. I'm sorry for your loss and i love the comment on justice, very true it appears that the victims get more punished and a longer sentence then the criminal! But karma is powerful. I enjoyed this poem and it was excellently written 5*

    Just a lil correction

This is a story that should be told more often. It is so very sad when someone sees there only way out as suicide. You have told it well. Hoopefully by your writing it will help someone else. Great job.
