The City Ignites

by Roy   Dec 11, 2006

The cold stale air, turning dawn into dusk
The horizon gets engulfed by a glow
The boy promises himself: if she lets me, I will show
Putting the past in the back of mind, for it's his only chance
He looks at the illuminated concrete with his final glance
There he goes laying it all on the line
At inception, all seems fine
Now the fuse is lit, and there's no turning back
He'll tell the city how he feels with the sound of a gag
Her simple and subtile gesture, Meaning the end
He could say he didn't care but that's all pretend
For he feels his final minute passed him by
A single tear is shed from his brown eye
As he commenced his final cry
In the middle of the city his heart bled dry
She was the final sight he saw
A perfect image without flaw
As he exhales his final breath
Love now claimed another death
The city silently ignited without a spark
Another loveless soul is casted into the dark.

-For the loveless,
