Deep in December (A Poem Just For Christmas)

by Weeping Wolf   Dec 11, 2006

Christmas is remembered with a smile.
and I patiently await the gentle time
that will soon come in this cozy home
When we will not have to rush,
but sit by the flames in the fireplace
with hot chocolate in my hand, love on my mind.

When friends come home for the holidays
and at last all lovers are content,
and though here, no snow will come
I am fine with this soft white robe
silky hair and fuzzy warm socks
to keep me calm to lounge and relax
with only love and tenderness in my eyes.
Because Christmas is remembered with a smile.

It seems this time of year
even the coldest of hearts get warmer
Hugs to a stranger, kisses to be shared
Giving plentifully without asking anything in return,
A lofty lightness in our souls helps us sing
our voices seeming more beautiful then before
something more special then hearing them on the radio,
but harmoniously chanting in front of someone's door.
Because Christmas songs are always sung with a smile.

Peaking in through frosted windows
running toward welcoming porch lights
Seeing candles and pine trees decorate the world
Cuddled up by the fire as rain patters outside
Telling stories of Christmas's past and future
Christmas is the most splendid time of year because
its in this closing of every year...
that we remember how to love again.
Thats why Christmas is remembered with a smile.
