A Story

by Naerwen   Dec 11, 2006

Id like to tell you a story,
Although I must warn,
There is no happy ending,
That you find in many a tale

This story Id like to share,
Is about a little girl I know,
Im sure you havent seen her,
She died long ago

No, not many knew this girl,
For in shadow she remained,
A hideous collection of flesh,
I must confess, though rude of me

She had a mother and a father,
Though both didnt love her much,
Neither could get past the mound,
That lay rocking in the cradle

They were however blessed,
With two glorious daughters,
Unblessed to wake one day,
And find the girl at their bedside

One daughter of the fairest kind,
While other frail and feather like,
Little girl crushed the flower bed,
In which both daughters slept

Unloved and born unworthy,
Poor beggars plea to awaken,
Somehow reborn in cleaner skin,
Bring a mothers joy and a fathers forgotten pride

Child truly alone in a bitter world,
She took her soul to the ocean shore,
I cant recall the night she died,
Only the prayer I heard her say

'This is my last night,
To live a worthless life,
I know what I must do,
To be beautiful once more'

Dear mother will never hold me,
Dear father will never see me,
My divine sisters cant touch me,
Now, I only wish for this end'

May my soul be swept away,
My cheeks be cleansed of tears,
Figure now stripped of sin,
My mind be let free'

She took flight with ocean wave,
Dancing in flamboyant current,
Heart singing for a love she never knew,
Lungs filled with love till final chorus

Little girl did drown that night,
But I must say though sad and weary,
The child did not feel sorrow,
Just woeful glee as she left home
