Bleeding Doves

by anna   Dec 12, 2006

I will leave you if you kill me
Set bleeding doves free
When my blood no longer plays the game
And my thoughts defeat the evading pain
The waves might consume me as I wade out to meet the sea

Even thought I know that everything might force me down
Retreat is not an option, because I'm obsessed with what we've found
And I know you can see that all the glass butterflies are shattered
And my Mascara bleeding... as the red drops fall, on your face they splatter

But still my heart longs for an accompanying percussion
But the barbs spat from your mouth tell me you're not up for this discussion
Humour me for a while; feed me the poison I long to believe
But soon the vigilante comes to "save the day"... and this is why I grieve

This crack you have placed inside my soul
Please fill it with you so I can be whole
But all that can be found are your finger prints on my heart
Destroyed at the root...before we even got to start
This killing me... and I can't help but think maybe that was your goal

You've used some very emotive wording in this piece and those two couplets struck at my heart for some reason.
    I can relate to them.
Well done on this. It's full of emotion which is something every good poem needs.
