Photograph

I glance at your photograph
Lying on my nightstand.
My eyes begin to water
As I grip it in my hand.

All these memories come back to me
As I look at your sweet smile.
How I remember yours was so contagious
And your laugh that could be heard from miles.

I take a glimpse at your pretty blue eyes
And notice how much they glow.
As a tear falls from my own,
I notice the true happiness that shows.

I remember how easily you showed your love
How to you, your family meant the world.
And out of all of your seventeen grandchildren,
There has only been one marriage and you ended up with only three girls.

I know you would want us all to be happy
And just live life as if you were here.
But it's not that simple when I know you are so far away,
And to pretend you are so near.

As I stare at this photograph
And know you're not here, but we are so far apart.
I look back on all those memories we have made
And store them, along with this picture, so deep inside my heart.

To my grandma(October 19, 1921-September 29, 2006)
You will never be forgotten
