My grandfather

by Lillye   Dec 13, 2006

This was written for my english Homework,we had to write a poem about a memory. i choose the one of my grandfather
i recieved grade B
......................................
I would sit by you, we\'d talk through whispers
Getting quieter every time someone drew close
You meant a lot to me back then; I would tell you my deepest thoughts
And you wouldnt blink an eye

You\'d reach into your pocket, revealing a boiled sweet
That solved everything back then, supported with smiles
That chair you would never leave, but you didnt mind
Stares on the street, they didnt bother you
Your true personality they never knew

And they never would, they never bothered to stop. I sat
Still silence falling over the table. I couldnt believe
What they were saying. I cried so many tears that day.
My best friend had died. My grandfather.
An empty space embedded in my soul.

Remembering how he would take my hand, and say
Everything would be okay.
He couldnt do that now. There was a space
Where he should have been, Should have stood
Where he should have sat.
