Why They Lie

by Flying With Broken Wings   Dec 14, 2006

They lie because they can,
Because it's wrong,
Because it's expected.

They lie because they fight
And because they don't speak anymore.

He lies to look good to his friends.
She lies for revenge.

They do it because they love each other too much.

They do it because they know how to
And because they don't want to get hurt.

They lie to hurt each other.

They lie to rant,
To exaggerate,
To say what they couldn't say.
They lie for fun.

They lie because they'll never see each other again
And because they're scared.

They lie because if they didn't,
They'd have nothing to talk about.
