A Mother Who Saved Her Children

by LadyPearl   Dec 15, 2006

*A mother who was killed for helping her children escape Greece where communists were taking over*
--------------------------------------------
So small were you in stature,
Yet so courageous in nature.
I often wonder in the peak
of night, how you must
have suffered.
For years I thought this
way, as I held your parting
cross, our hope.
How ignorant I was
to believe you safe,
When instead, death won.

But this was not so,
Said my muse and
old-aged conscience.
You had won,
Even against your
tormenting end.
Through written words
I see pictures,
Never by the naked eye
I witness your bruises,
Yet you smile
In silence.

They may tear your body
From flesh and blood,
But your one last wish
came true nonetheless.
You knew your love
would live in us.
See me now,
as a writer of the past
Remembering not the
despair, but love
instead.

WOW. That was a very beautiful and bittersweet piece. Especially loved the lines above. Very profound.

    Excellent.
