Fate Was Cruel

by Jenni Marie   Dec 15, 2006

I'm waiting for my master to come home
Hoping he's in a good mood
Hiding behind the couch
And wondering when I'll get my food.

I can hear a key in the door
And I race out to see
Oh no, he's in a rage again
What'll happen to me?

He's glaring at me now
And lashes out with his foot
I hear his angry shouts
'Move you stupid mutt.'

I can see from the mood he's in
There'll be no food tonight
I wonder what he would do
if I were to turn and bite.

My ribs are showing
My fur is falling out
What did I do that was so bad?
Why does he always have to shout?

He grabs my head hard
And slams it into the door
I'm seeing stars
As I slide to the floor.

I just want him to love me
I don't want to get beat
Why was fate so cruel
To put me at this man's feet?
