The Dead of Winter

by Twisted Heart   Dec 16, 2006

Come the dead of winter
The wind has shifted aimlessly
It's cold breath
Now sings of death
Upon the golden leaves.

Come the dead of winter
Snow capes the mountain green
Within the mist
It leaves its kiss
And moves in darkened dreams.

Come the dead of winter
The icy storm has brought release
To the swells
of angered bells
That ring for those who grieve.

Come the dead of winter
Among the hearts of cold embrace
Tarnished in minds
That's trapped by time
As it slowly falls from grace.

Come the dead of winter
Take shelter from the bitter night
Don't let the fingers
Of frost linger
Or stop your feet in flight.

Like the whisper of forgotten songs
That touched your soul so tender
It'll leave its breath within your heart
Come the dead of winter.

Okay, this is my first comment of 8, which may have to be done over time, because I've left so many on your poems as is. lol But I thought this was a new style for you, very well done, and makes you want to put on a sweater. I really liked this piece!
