Depth of me

When you look into my eyes,
What do you really see?
Do you see a humble girl?
As pretty as an oyster's precious pearl.
Or do you see the shards of glass?
Every piece I try to mask.
Do you see a shattered heart?
Or an abstract work of art.
Perhaps a perfectly cut jem.
Maybe a heart impossible to mend.
Few truly understand,
