How Could I Lose You?

by e l flo   Dec 17, 2006

It is a hard world out there,
but we promised to fight it as one
Then you tore my heart out,
and it shattered like a glass hitting the ground

I can still see your smile,
and I can still feel your touch
You eyes tend to linger in mine,
and your thoughts consume me

You made a promise,
we wouldn't change
We would still that one dance,
no matter what happens

There was a connection, a bond,
A friendship that is unbreakable

But there was no dance was there?
She was jealous of me,
we had been together for so long, who wouldn't be?

The nightly calls stopped,
our three hour coversations had ceased,
the letters were terminated
Hell, you can't even stand to look at me

We have been through a crazy three years, together
The lies and hurtful stories,
made by the rest of the world.

It was us against the world,
I guess I just didn't expect a breakup to break us

But I guess its true what they say,
Expect the unexpected,
it will probably end up happening

I miss you,
I miss us.

Such a sad story.. You used some beautiful language and it just added to the poignant sad tone..
