Stars

Stars

I flew tonight,
but not with you.
I never thought,
I'd fly again.

We soared beyond
the red roof tops,
finding ourselves
above the clouds.
Escaping from
suburbia
illusions left
so far below.

(Am I finally free, from you?)

A sweet embrace...
Lingering kiss...
We become one...
Serenity...

And as we flew,
I saw the stars
where you and I,
were once entwined.
They're beautiful
as you are still - but
you are not
mine anymore.

(No you are not,
mine anymore).

I flew tonight,
though not with you.
I never thought
I'd fly again.

Beautiful and poignant with the sad ache of regret. I can almost see you looking back as you move forward. Excellent!

Such a beautifully written poem. It was a magical read. I loved the word choice and the flow of this poem. I gave it a 5/5.

I saw your comment on my poem and looked you up. You said you don't like commenting on the featured list, so I did the same to you and went to your 'latest' poems. This is very good. I really enjoyed the part where you put in parentheses (you are not mine anymore.) That was extremely good. I mean, I think it's like, first you said it out loud but then it hit you, and those words in parentheses were like you were repeating it to yourself in your head and finally realizing you weren't with him anymore. I don't know if this makes any sense, but it was good. I appreciate any and all comments!
