Mask

Behind this mask that I wear
Is a soul that I shalt not bare
True words are said from my lips
But scarred lies lay on bound hips

Don't you see the fake that is me?
A truth not said or is to see
Behind a mask, I lie in wait
And sit here wondering, what is my fate?

A mask, cold and true
Sitting between me and you
Made of heartache, make of screams
Made beneath the layers of nightmarish dreams

Held in place with reluctant hands
Pulled together with black bands
Burned on skin, made of death
Pushed into place, fighting for a breath

Behind a mask that I wear on my face
Lives a child full of disgrace
Made of minions, made of treason
Lost to the world filled with reason

Masked feeling I show not to you
The mask broken yet fixed with glue
Says not a word, and shows not a thing
Encourages no one to write a song and sing

The heartless face that you now see
Is the empty shell that is me
Not so false, yet not so true
The emotionless mask between reality and you

A mask, a mask, on my face
With all this terror, it is kept in place
You do not see the feelings I hide
Behind this mask, is time I bide
