Pretend

Having known this year would be long
I would of changed myself
to play along,

Would of took a day step by step
not going to far
never to misstep,

Stopped outside
to look around
then lay down to put everything aside,

I would of took things more seriously
and listened closely
never finding things so mysteriously,

Would of took your hand and never let go
showed you I loved you
though I did but it was only below,

The year was then at end
and everything was wrong
wishing we could all just pretend.
