My heart is like a door
That's been slammed shut too many times
My heart is a lot like this poem
It speaks the truth in almost every line
This heart has been so happy it could burst
Those times were the best ever
This heart is so sad it will break
These times make me think love is coming-never
Your heart doesn't seem to be broke
At least I can't see a band-aid
Your heart is free and willing to take a chance
You say you never broke any promise you've made
If my door starts to open,
Will your door close?
If I take a chance with you, will you be the one?
I don't think either of us knows
My heart is telling me yes
My mind tells me maybe
Your heart seems to say same
You seem to think I'm your baby
I'm not completely sure about my heart
I don't know if I should trust it
It's been broken from the start
So it falls easy....this I know for sure
Your heart is open and cares
You want me with you as you hold your hand out to me
You say to trust my heart, if I can't then trust yours
That I'm the only one you want and I'm perfect to you, or as far as you can see
So I'll put my heart in your open hand
I'll take one more chance
Our love takes flight and I hope it never lands
Because I'll need a really big band-aid to mend what I think is a perfect romance
All the band-aids I needed before are all gone
My heart only wants and needs you
Every time you say you love me-it takes a band-aid off, slowly and surely, one by one
I'm going out of the form of my average poem
Because you aren't an average guy
Because rhymes aren't enough to describe what you mean to me
And because for the first time I know my heart is right and I'll never regret what has come to be something so precious between you and I
