What is a poet?

by ShootingStar179   Dec 21, 2006

What is a poet?
Is it someone with a bunch of failed dreams?
They get a pen with paper,
And in their despair,
tears streaming down their face,
They think desperately,
Does anyone care?

Do I seem lost?
Is this paper the only thing keeping me alive?
This unfeeling paper with smudges and tears,
It falls from my hand,
the paper flies helplessly to the floor,
This is my life,
My little heaven's corridor.

True and yet not...poetry strems down the face of joy too. I like this and what it says that is truth.

Wow! Marvelous lol, I don't like that word but I can't think of one that would sum up the power of this poem the way it deserves! I loved how you tied in the typical sterotype that the poets/poetesses get...I absolutely hate it, but we got to deal with I guess. Anyways I really am speechless on what to actually say about this poem, it's one of my favorites I have read on this site, keep it up Darling. I think I may just add you to my favorites list (:

Truly the greatest satisfaction to be had is the leaving of one's words for posterity.

leaving a mark to be writ down through the ages. nailing down your feelings and stating i shall not turn back from where i came.
