I see what I want,
And I do want to get it,
But if I were all that selfish,
I would be getting more than I would want,
Not more than I need.
I wouldn't want those stares,
and all those sideways glares,
I wouldn't want the tears,
or any social fears.
I wouldn't want to gain one thing,
Just to lose another.
I wouldn't want to break so many hearts
Just to make mine whole.
I wouldn't want that trust broken,
Over something I never really needed.
I wouldn't want to earn something temporary,
To lose something permanently.
I wouldn't trade all my heart's desires
for what I have.
Those who are humble are rewarded.
Those who are selfish,
Lose.
