What I do at work

by Rachel RTVW   Dec 23, 2006

People always ask, what I do at work and why?
I nurse my patients back to health, or they will surely die.
Sickness chooses anyone, no reason or no rhyme,
And when they need an IV, I get it every time.

I give nitro for their chest pain, and they do not have to beg,
If it gives them a big headache, I just stick it on their leg.
I change depends and empty pots, they always smell real bad,
I give them Xanax for anxiety and Zoloft when their sad.

Heparin drips and Coumadin, when their blood is way too thick,
And when it's time to check their sugar, their fingers get a prick.
Lasix for their CHF, Protonix for their acid,
Avelox for nasty bugs, Neurontin when their flaccid.
Amphojel for indigestion, tissues for their noses,
Foley catheter insertions, some as large as hoses.

Some can walk and some cannot, all of them on Tele,
NG tube insertion time, to empty out a belly.
Reglan for their nausea, Phenergan if it persists,
If they are tugging at their tubes, restraints go on their wrists.
Blankets for their bodies, pillows for their heads,
When their call bell falls, I just tie it to their beds.

Digoxin slows and strengthens, a weak and tiring heart,
Stitches tie it back together, when it falls apart.
Duonebs for the short of breath, O2 for them all,
Incident reports are ready, if one of them should fall.
Blood when their Hemoglobin drops, Benadryl for their hives,
My answer is "Nothing much,I love it, being busy saving lives!"
