Only fools fall in love,
they really don't know why.
When the guy breaks their hearts,
they sit around and cry.
I hate to say I told you so,
but it's true I guess I must.
There's really only one person,
with your heart that you can trust.
It's true, I've never given mine away,
but I do know better.
I've seen it happen lots of times,
they never end up together.
I'll let you make your mistakes,
but my shield stays up around my heart.
Never will it come down,
not for anyone, please don't start.

I know this for a fact.
For this reason with my heart,
I made a secret pact.
I promised to never fall in love,
it leaves you broken and confused.
My heart won't be treated like that,
it won't ever be abused.
My heart will stay forever cold,
even if you're my answer from above.
I'm sorry my love-that-just-can't-be,
but only fools fall in love.
