Seperate by age...

by Shauni   Dec 24, 2006

Looking across the room,
Wishing I could just hallucinate you there,
May I speak to whom,
Actually wishes I would care.

My thoughts could drift many miles,
Through your ears,
Tingling beyond your feet to the tiles,
Can you feel my love that nears?

It's not only the distance in between,
It's the years you've become wise and me alone,
I see what the steps you take away from me all mean,
the puzzle pieces to our whole heart we both own.

For a moment as they walk by,
I'll pretend we're both innocent,
Red lights turn green and they believe our lie,
Spitting words as you laugh I understand what you meant.

Fingers crossed behind our backs,
Ever promise still fresh in our mind,
Our secrets sealed right beyond the surface cracks,
The ones so deep I can still feel the hands so gentle and kind.

Reach as far as beneath the skin,
Stop to remember the space we don't want but need,
But still remember time will let you win,
Just follow me as I lead.

Taking steps in and out of temptation,
Wishing different generations of love wasn't illegal in this nation!
