Empty Tears and Empty Hearts

by APoeticLetdown   Dec 24, 2006

The biting wind pierced my skin as we gazed at the stars.
"I don't understand-" you mumble through frozen lips.
"I am a riddle that you cannot construe.
You cannot read me with apathetic eyes.
For you must stare passionately into the eyes of yourself,
and there you will see me.
Because I live in you, not for you."
Your stern countenance does not break.
You look through me and see the world, I am your tool,
to give you inspiration.
I changed the world to fit your goals and in my mailbox-
There was no thank you card.
So I say to you, "I have no room in my heart for your feeble attempts.
I have no time to waste trying to make you feel what I ache for.
I have been disregarded and left to languish in your lifeless arms."
"I don't understand-"
You repeat as you back away into the darkness
And fade into time.
